Our 8 Favourite Styles of Floral Arches
If you follow our work on Instagram or have scrolled through the portfolio on our website, you'll know that we absolutely love designing statement pieces for wedding ceremonies! These unique floral pieces are so important because they'll be in most of your ceremony photos and in your first kiss portraits as a couple; so you'll want them to be memorable and something you love.
There are many options for ceremony floral decor including arrangements on pedestals, grounded floral arches, florals on mantels, florals on gazebos or gates, hanging installations, arbours and archways. This blog highlights many of the wedding arches, arbours and gazebos we have had the pleasure of flowering. One thing we love about floral arches is that they are reusable for your reception!
If you are planning a wedding and need some wedding ceremony floral inspiration, scroll on down! We hope you will find something creative that you love and adore!
1 – Oversized Curved Arch Florals
One of our favourite curved arches is the oversized lush floral style. This arch is filled with many blooms and once complete can measure up to 8ft wide by 11ft tall! We recommend this style for couples looking for a showstopping floral design.
The first wedding pictured below is of a lush oversized arch used for Kailey and Kyle’s outdoor ceremony and repurposed as a grand entrance for their tented reception! See more photos from their wedding here.
2 – Classic Curved Arch Florals
You can never go wrong with the classic curved arch! It’s less dense than the oversized arch and once flowered, can measure up to 6ft wide by 8ft tall. This arch is a timeless and elegant backdrop and can be customized with floral hedges at the bottom or the sides for a loose and flowy look.
3 – Partial Curved Arch Florals
If you’re looking for more of an asymmetrical look but still admire the shape of curved arches, then this partial curved arch style may be for you! As the name suggests, the arch is partially flowered and certain sections of the arch are visible. This style adds a unique element to your backdrop and can be customized in many ways to suit your vision!
Outdoor venues such as Silvertip Resort and The Norland Historic Estate have gorgeous gazebos where flowers can be designed to arch around the gazebo. From asymmetrical yet balanced designs, to flowers just on the one side as if they were growing naturally, there are many ways to design your gazebo florals!
Symbolizing the home that the newlyweds will build together, a chuppah is a traditional canopy in which a Jewish couple stands during their ceremony. It typically includes a cloth or sheet stretched over the arch’s four poles. What’s more perfect than adding fresh florals to the symbol of your new home?
Some believe that circle arches represent eternity and unity, a blessing for the couple as they say their “I do’s” and share their first meal together as newlyweds by the arch. Our team has designed symmetrical circle arches, asymmetrical circle arches, even those with floral hedges at the base for that loose and natural look!
7 – Rectangle Arbour Florals
Wooden or metal, embellished with a cloth or not, rectangle arch florals are another versatile style for your special day. We recommend this for couples who prefer the linearity of rectangles over the curvature of circle arches, yet still want that elegant and timeless feel of wedding arches.
For couples getting married at an outdoor garden like the Deane House, pergola florals may be perfect for you! We love how this passageway allows couples to really stand close to the arch, allowing the sunlight to shine through with its open roof structure all while seamlessly blending your florals into the scenery.
Whichever wedding arch design you choose, our team would love to make your floral dreams come true! Get in touch with us today to inquire about our quality floral design services for weddings in Calgary, Canmore, Banff and beyond!
